A newly leaked video reveals interesting details about the forthcoming Nokia 9 PureView. As a first, the Nokia sports five cameras on the back:
Having five cameras (the current maximum is four, Samsung Galaxy A9) yields interesting and rather creative possibilities: When shooting portraits, the camera app lets the user change the extent of Bokeh to isolate the main subject. Also supported is Post Focus, that is determining the focus plane after the shot was taken. A special Night Mode combines the image data of all five sensors for noisefree images. Still no information about the focal length and resolution of the cameras; it’s safe to assume that at least a 2x optical zoom will be available.
The Nokia 9 PureView comes equipped with Qualcomm’s current top 4G SoC, the SnapDragon 845, and will feature 6 GB RAM with 128 GB ROM. It’s currently unknown, if the memory is expandable. The phone’s front is dominated by a HDR10-enabled 6″ 2K display (2.560 x 1.440 px.) with an integrated fingerprint reader and no notch or “punch hole”. Qi wireless charging is also supported. The Nokia 9 will run Android 9 “Pie” out of the box with a two year update promise. 5G is not supported.
We expect the official release no earlier than late January. It’s currently unknown if and when the phone will be available in the US. As for pricing, we’ll have to wait for the release but an educated guess would place the Nokia 9 at around 600 – 700 Dollars, in line with the current top of the range Sirocco 8.
